How DFCoat™ Works

Fresh produce continues to respire and lose moisture after harvest. DFCoat™ creates an ultra-thin, breathable edible film that helps:

Reduce surface moisture loss

Slow natural respiration

Maintain firmness and visual freshness

Support short-term shelf stability

The coating is microscopically thin, allowing produce to breathe while providing gentle surface protection.

What’s in the DFCoat™ Blend

DFCoat™ is formulated using simple, food-grade ingredients commonly used in food applications:

Edible Aloe Vera Gel A plant-derived, food-grade gel used as the film-forming component, creating a smooth, breathable edible layer.

Lemon Extract (Food-Grade) Used in very small quantities for natural pH balance and antioxidant support, without affecting taste.

Clean Drinking Water Acts as the carrier to ensure safe dilution and even application.

No synthetic waxes.

No artificial preservatives.

No harsh chemicals.

FSANZ Compatibility Statement

DFCoat™ is formulated to be FSANZ-compatible when used as intended. All ingredients are food-grade and commonly permitted for food use under Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ)

Not classified as a therapeutic good, preservative, pesticide, or disinfectant
DFCoat™ does not make medical, antimicrobial, or therapeutic claims.

Use in Households, Including Children & Pets

DFCoat™ is designed for normal food-handling environments, such as homes, cafés, and food businesses, including kitchens where adults, children, and pets may be present.
The coating is edible and food-grade when used on produce as directed Produce may be rinsed with clean water before consumption, if desired DFCoat™ is not intended as a pet food product and is not marketed for direct pet consumption

Suitable Produce

Suitable for many whole fruits and vegetables, including:

Tomatoes, apples, citrus, avocados

Capsicum, cucumbers, pears, stone fruit

Not recommended for:

Cut or processed produce

Leafy greens

Mushrooms

Testing & Trial Phase Notice

DFCoat™ is currently in an active testing and trial phase. Ongoing trials are being conducted to assess:

Performance across different produce types

Freshness outcomes under varying storage conditions

Safety and usability in everyday food-handling environments

Results may vary depending on produce type, storage temperature, handling practices, and time from harvest. Customers are encouraged to trial DFCoat™ on small batches under their own conditions.

Availability

DFCoat™ is not yet released for general public sale.
Once testing and internal validation are complete, DFCoat™ will be made available for public use, in line with applicable food standards and usage guidelines.
