PICK OF THE WEEK – SWEET TOPLESS PINEAPPLES

This week's fruit highlight is the sweet Topless Pineapple from Queensland. These pineapples are well known for their juicy texture, refreshing flavour and natural sweetness.

Unlike many fruits, pineapples do not continue to ripen after they have been harvested. While the fruit may become softer, juicier and change colour, its sweetness is largely established while it is still growing on the plant.

Pineapple is also naturally rich in vitamin C, making it a delicious and refreshing addition to breakfast, fruit platters, smoothies and desserts.

The removal of the leafy crown gives these pineapples their distinctive appearance. It is also connected with the way pineapple plants are propagated and makes the fruit easy to identify.

After a period of challenging growing conditions and limited supply, Queensland pineapples are becoming more readily available again. Their combination of sweetness, freshness and value makes them a standout choice this week.

THIS WEEK'S VEGETABLE HIGHLIGHTS

Fresh Australian asparagus is coming into its new-season period and is looking excellent. It is simple to prepare and works beautifully grilled, roasted or cooked with a little olive oil, lemon and seasoning.

Sugar snap peas are another great seasonal choice. Their crisp texture and naturally sweet flavour make them perfect for salads, stir-fries, lunchboxes or eating fresh.

Cauliflower and washed potatoes are also offering good value this week. Depending on location and availability, the box may include Kestrel potatoes from Queensland or red washed potatoes from New South Wales.

Spring is also an ideal time for fennel. Its fresh, crisp texture and subtle aniseed flavour make it a versatile ingredient for salads, roasting and cooking.

Celery is another practical everyday vegetable that is currently looking fresh and offers plenty of uses, from salads and soups to juices and cooking.

Snacking tomatoes are included as an easy salad ingredient, adding colour, freshness and flavour to everyday meals.

THIS WEEK'S FRUIT HIGHLIGHTS

Sweet Topless Pineapples are the standout fruit this week, offering a delicious combination of sweetness, juiciness and refreshing flavour.

Premium blueberries are another excellent choice and are convenient for breakfast, snacks, desserts and smoothies.

Red papaya is also a great seasonal fruit to enjoy while conditions are favourable. Its soft texture and naturally sweet flavour make it ideal for breakfast or fresh fruit salads.

Kanzi apples are included in lunchbox size, making them a convenient option for work, school and everyday snacking.

Hass avocados are currently delivering excellent quality and are perfect for toast, salads, sandwiches, guacamole and everyday meals.

Red seedless grapes are also becoming an increasingly attractive fruit choice. They are easy to serve, convenient for snacking and suitable for sharing.

Enjoy this week's carefully selected mix of fresh seasonal fruit and vegetables!
